Does posting my resume on a job recruiting site work?

I recently posted my resume and contact information on job.com but then discovered that they want me to pay a fee. Has anyone had positive experiences with posting their resume on a job recruiting website? Does it provide better results than just applying for jobs from want ads? I would pay if it would lead to a good job opportunity…

I would not pay for a site go to Careerbuilder.com or monster.com i have my resume on those sites and they have helped me get interviews sometimes within 2 days of posting the resume!
